That’s right, lottery players could have a chance of winning the 4th largest lottery prize in our nation’s history as the Mega Millions estimated jackpot reaches $521 million after climbing from $502 million ahead of tonight’s drawing. No one has won the ever increasing jackpot in 2 months.
The $521 million relates to the annuity option, in which payments are made over 29 years. The cash option would pay $317 million.
Speaking on behalf of the landmark draw is Gordon Medenica, Mega Millions lead director and Maryland Lottery gaming director, who states in a press release “Jackpot rolls are always exciting, but surpassing the $500 million mark for only the fourth time is a historic milestone. Large jackpots like this one capture everyone’s attention, and it would be great to see the roll go on for a while longer. But at the same time, we can’t wait to see someone win.”
The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history was $656 million in March 2012. Find out if you will become the next half a billionaire when the drawing is held tonight at 11 p.m. ET.
